ACTIVITIES

Le Moulin & the surrounding area

The rolling hills of the Limousin surround le Moulin de Cheni and within its 50 acres of grounds are woods, parkland, pasture and lakes. The main lake was created in the time of Napoleon and the other lakes are later additions. (See Map)

It is an idyllic place to walk undisturbed, letting time drift by.
Grazing on the pasture are two Percheron horses, Tiffany and Idole and Paquerette the donkey.

Le Moulin de Cheni offers many opportunities to paint or photograph the scenery and the wide variety of wildlife that abounds in the area. The quiet roads allow for safe cycling,

Close by is the Market Town of Saint-Yrieix-la-Perche which hosts a number of fine restaurants and a wide variety of shops. The town is known for its porcelain and kaolin and a beautiful 12th Century Church. This area is home to the “Cul-Noir” the traditional black bottomed pig of the Limousin. The famous Chateau of Jumilhac-le-Grande is a short drive away and the picturesque village of Segur-le-Chateau is also nearby.

The equestrian centre of Pompadour is a popular tourist destination where flat and steeplechase racing is held from June to September
